TestAS for German

The TestAS (“Test für ausländische Studierende” – “Test for foreign students”) is a centralized, standardized test to assess German language skills in specific areas.

The TestAS consists of a basic module and a specialist module.

There are four different specialist modules: Humanities, Cultural And Social Sciences; Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences; Engineering; Economics.

The TestAS results show foreign candidates their ranking in comparison with other people interested in studying in Germany. With a good result, you can increase the chances of being accepted by a German university.

You can take the TestAS at our authorized centre in Parma, the Leitmotiv-London School.

How long is the test?

It lasts for a total of approximately 5 hours, including breaks.

How is the TestAS structured?

The test is given in paper form and consists of two parts. The first part is the basic module (Kern Test) which lasts about 2 hours, the second part is the specialized module based on the subject chosen by the candidate (Humanities, Cultural And Social Sciences; Mathematics, Informatics And Natural Sciences; Engineering; Economics) which lasts about 2 and a half hours.

When is the result available?

The result is available after 4 weeks. By accessing the candidate portal the TestAS-Ergebnisse is visible and downloadable.

How do I register for TestAS?

It is possible to take the TestAS at our authorized centre in Parma, the Leitmotiv-London School, however, registration must be done exclusively on the TestAS website – www.testas.de
